My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal as your counselor is to support, encourage, and help you through life and the various challenges you face. Counseling is one of the most beneficial endeavors a person can embark on because of the human connection it brings. I believe no one is an island and we all need to be in a safe space connected to others. Through Christian counseling, you can experience that safe space and human connection as you gain tools to help you heal and thrive.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
In our initial meeting, I will invite you to share what led you to seek help. I will encourage you to identify 3-5 goals to give us a direction for our sessions. From there, I will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan based on your needs and desires. If you are comfortable doing so, I like to open and close our sessions with prayer.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
I believe in grace as the driving force for healing and change. God gives grace to me and then equips me to give grace to others. Everyone has a past, and everyone has regrets. Everyone experiences pain. We all have struggles that we must suffer through. God’s love for me compels me to act in love toward others. The most powerful thing I can give others is supernatural grace that is cultivated by a relationship through Jesus Christ.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a BA in History with a Secondary Education emphasis and an MA in Clinical Mental Health from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX.
My Call to Christian Counseling
I have always been a helper and when I see the needs of others I like to act if it is within my ability to offer assistance. God has gifted me with a servant’s heart and mercy for others.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I enjoy the great indoors – reading, writing, video games, card games, board games, and puzzles of various sorts such as jigsaws, crosswords, and word searches. I love sci-fi and fantasy movies and TV shows and watch a lot of history videos on YouTube, especially about ancient civilizations – Rome, Greece, Egypt, and the medieval and Renaissance eras. I also enjoy many genres of music, especially singing in the choir at church.

Anxiety
God commands us not to fear, but often our emotions are filled with worry, doubt, analysis, and what-if scenarios. When facing anxiety, we borrow troubles from the future when God tells us to not worry about tomorrow. Living out this command takes intentionality and specific spiritual disciplines. Strategies for living free from anxiety include but are not limited to entrusting your soul to the Lord’s care, finding rest in your body, processing emotions, and keeping your mind focused on God’s truth. By learning ways to cope with fear using proven techniques, you will be able to experience the peace that surpasses all understanding that God provides.
Depression
The Psalmist in Scripture is no stranger to deep sorrow, disconnect, poor sleep, isolation, and general loss of purpose in life. During seasons when you feel lost with no hope or energy to continue, God is there in your struggle. The comforting words provided in Scripture offer hope and practical solutions to move us through heavy and often dark emotions. Strategies for living free from depression include but are not limited to entrusting your soul to the Lord’s care, finding stimulating activities for your body, processing trapped or hidden emotions, and keeping your mind focused on God’s truth. By learning ways to cope with sadness using proven methods, you will be able to experience the hope and presence of God as He is near to the brokenhearted.
Grief and Loss
God is never more present with us than when we are suffering, but often we think and feel those are the times when God seems the most distant. Scripture promises us that the poor in spirit and those who mourn will be comforted and counted blessed by God. When experiencing grief and loss, we are often not given the tools we need to regulate emotions and cope with such vast changes and transitions. God wants to meet you in your story of grief and loss to help you see all the beautiful ways He is present with you and working all things out for your good. In counseling, I would encourage you to keep your heart, soul, mind, and strength entrusted to God’s care in the midst of your grief and loss such as trauma, abuse, death, sickness, aging, or other unexpected circumstances.
Personal Development
Imagine your life as a wheel with equal parts given to all areas of wellness. This means everything is prioritized perfectly and all is filled in smoothly. We know that in reality, life often becomes unbalanced and something to survive rather than feeling proactive about the direction that’s being taken. Change is possible and can happen through the use of goal setting, weekly accountability, establishing daily habits, implementing values, and discovering purpose. Through Christian counseling, you can commit to growing and learning more about your strengths, God-given gifts, and service to others.
Relationship Issues
God knows that people are messy and that we will have conflict in relationships. He designed some clashes to strengthen our bonds with each other such as in marriage or parenting relationships. When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus Christ answered echoing Jewish law: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Likewise, love your neighbor as yourself.” It’s the connection with others that often leaves us feeling isolated, empty, and broken. Through our time together, you will be able to discover more of Jesus Christ’s wise teaching on how we are to forgive, confront, set boundaries, communicate assertively, and thrive in healthy relationships.
